Several emergency responders from Cicero will receive awards for their efforts to save lives at a ceremony later this month.
Members of the Cicero Fire Department, Cicero Police Department and North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps (NAVAC) will be honored at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Cicero Fire Department, Station No. 1, 8377 Brewerton Road (Route 11), Cicero, CFD Chief Jon Barrett announced.
Barrett, along with Cicero Police Sergeant John Baldini and Officer James Snell, will be presented with the Liberty Mutual Fire Mark Award for their efforts at the scene of a residential structure fire on Wynmoor Drive on Oct. 4, 2012. Five people were injured in the blaze, including one who suffered a life-threatening laceration to his arm. That victim was trapped on the second story of the home, and it was through the efforts of Barrett, Baldini and Snell that he was able to escape the fire.
In addition, at the ceremony, Cicero Second Assistant Fire Chief Ronald Barling, Past Chief Les Eastwood, firefighters James Snell, Mark Bedigan and David Vivenzio will be presented with a Life Saving Award and meet the cardiac arrest patient they resuscitated on Feb. 24.
The ceremony will be open to the public.
