G&C Foods, a Van Buren business, recently made a $10,000 donation to the Baldwinsville Community Food Pantry.
“This time of year, I get to play Santa Claus,” said David Lepage, president of the company, adding that G&C Foods donates 10 percent of the company’s pretax income each year to local organizations like the BCFP. “I tend to look toward smaller operations in our area that don’t get a lot of corporate donations.”
Lepage and Sara Johnson, the organizational development manager at G&C Foods, presented the BCFP Volunteer Coordinator Sally Dayger with the donation last Friday. Dayger said the generous donation will provide a year’s supply of vouchers for eggs and milk to those in need.
BCFP serves all residents residing within the Baldwinsville Central School District on a confidential basis and is run entirely by volunteers.
“My volunteers are wonderful – they are the ones who do all the work,” Dayger said.
The pantry, located within the First United Methodist Church at the corner of Charlotte and West Genesee streets in Baldwinsville, is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. To make a food or monetary donation, drop it off (use the main entrance off the parking lot behind the church) during the pantry’s hours of operation or mail to 17 W.
