The annual Marcellus Starlight Tree Lighting is drawing near.
The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, with horse-drawn wagon rides sponsored by the village and town. Rides will start and end on North Street across from Subway.
Prior to the tree lighting at 6 p.m., the Driver Middle School Select Choir will perform Christmas songs at Town Hall and Marcellus Girls Scouts and Frosty the Snowman will lead Christmas carols around the village. The Marcellus Senior High School Select Choir and United Methodist Church Choir will perform at the lighting ceremony, where the church will also serve free coffee, hot chocolate and cider.
After the lighting, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Santa Claus will be at the Steadman House to hear special requests; the Marcellus Optimists will offer cookies and hot chocolate at the American Legion; and First Cup Coffee Café will host “Make Your Own Christmas Craft” for the kids.
A harpist will perform at Marcellus Free Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Frosty the Snowman will greet people around the village from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and horse-drawn hayrides will continue until 7:30 p.m.
