Two Syracuse teens have been charged with first-degree attempted robbery in connection with a drug deal that took place in the Fairmount Wegmans parking lot Friday.
John McFadden, 18, of 102 Leslee Terrace, is accused of attempting to rob a 17-year-old Lyncourt teen during a drug deal outside the Wegmans located at 3324 W. Genesee St. Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies said the deal involved hydrocodone and was staged by Charles Baz, 18, of 212 Limestone Lane.
Deputies allege that just before 11:30 p.m., McFadden approached the 17-year-old and threatened him with a knife. The alleged victim sustained a minor wound to his hand during a fight with McFadden, who quickly fled the scene, deputies said.
McFadden is charged with first-degree robbery, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree assault, while Baz is charged with first-degree attempted robbery and fourth-degree conspiracy.
Both were arraigned in Geddes Town Court and later released from the Onondaga County Justice Center on $1,000 cash bail. They are scheduled back in court on Nov. 19.
