The Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed three new village businesses into its fold last week with ribbon cutting ceremonies at each location and the presentation of membership plaques to the owners.
Isadora, the LakeHouse Pub and UTD Gallery all opened their doors in Skaneateles this past year on East Genesee Street, West Genesee Street and Fennell Street, respectively.
The chamber’s welcome committee, consisting of executive director Sue Dove, president Pam Schoener, Meryl Davis, Rhonda Raper and Patty Hall, made the presentations at each business last Thursday, Nov. 8.
“Welcome. We hope you have a great Dickens holiday,” Dove said to Irene Callisto, owner of Isadora, a fine lingerie store at 58 East Genesee St.
Callisto moved her business to Skaneateles this past May after being located for years in Armory Square in Syracuse. She said she has been very happy she moved the store to Skaneateles, that it has been “better than downtown Syracuse — by a lot.”
Dennis Coleman and Jim Goethe, two of the three partners who own the LakeHouse Pub at 6 West Genesee St., were on hand to cut the ribbon in front of their establishment on Nov. 8. Coleman, Goethe and Mike Wamp announced in June their intention to open a new pub in the former Morris’ Grill location. They opened for business on Aug. 24.
“It’s going great,” Coleman said. “We’re very appreciative of the warm welcome we have received.”
“We owe it all to Ted Kinder [one of the partners who own the Seitz Building, in which the pub is located]. He had a vision; he knew we had a very thirsty town,” Goethe said.
The third business added to the chamber’s rolls was UTD (Unite Two Design) Gallery at 37 Fennell St., which creates innovative designs in furniture and jewelry from reclaimed materials, found objects and vintage finds. Owners Keith Traub and Theresa Daddona-Traub started their studio in 2010 and opened their gallery doors in Skaneateles in early September.
