The Town of Van Buren will plow Onondaga County roads within the town for a rate of $6,600 per mile for 2013. That rate will increase by 2 percent annually for each subsequent year of the five-year contract, which runs through 2017.
According to Supervisor Claude Sykes, the Supervisors and Highway Superintendent associations have been working on this contract for about a year and these are the best numbers for reimbursement that the towns have seen.
Many county roads are traveled by the town’s trucks in order to get to town roads, so it makes sense to plow them, added Councilor Pat Dickman.
