Having proven that it could face some adversity and still get the job done, the Skaneateles girls volleyball team closed in on another unblemished regular season.
The Lakers were nearly a week removed from its tough four-set victory over Westhill on Oct. 11 when it went to Phoenix last Wednesday night, this time crushing the Firebirds 25-4, 25-8, 25-14.
JoAnna Dean set the tone, serving up four aces to go with her team-best seven kills and four digs. Sidney Lawson showed her versatility, too, mixing in 12 assists, four kills and seven digs.
Natalie Roche posted six digs and two kills, while Amanda Shoenfelt matched Dean’s total of four digs. Malory Davis had three assists, with Kristina Didio contributing three digs. Julianna Augustine had three digs, two kills, two aces and two blocks.
It was much the same in Thursday’s match at Mexico, where the Lakers turned back the Tigers in another three-set sweep 25-5, 25-17, 25-16.
Sidney Lawson worked her way to 12 assists, eight digs, four kills an two aces. Augustine had six kills, four aces, three digs and two blocks, while Dean had nine digs to go with three aces and two kills. Casey VanSlyke earned six digs, with Shoenfelt contributing five digs. Roche had three kills and four digs, Anna Smith also getting four digs.
On Monday night, the Lakers would take on Marcellus for the second time this month. After coming back home Thursday to face Institute of Technology Central, Skaneateles plays in Saturday’s OHSL Tournament at Phoenix.
