The village of Manlius is making use of the $3,000 in Onondaga County Save the Rain grant funds it was awarded in May.
The village was selected for its Rain Barrel Pilot Project, through which it is now distributing 25 50-gallon rain barrels on a first come, first serve basis.
The village of Manlius was one of 12 suburban communities selected to receive a portion of the $3 million in green infrastructure projects included in the expansion of the county’s Save the Rain program, which was approved by the legislature last year. The projects are meant to help resolve inflow and infiltration problems in the suburbs.
Village residents interested in obtaining a rain barrel should call the Parks & Recreation Department at 682-7887.
