Walgreens will host a zumba event this Saturday to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
“I was totally thinking out of the box when I came up with the idea of doing a Zumbathon in my parking lot here at Walgreens,” said store manager Yvonne Tanneholtz, who is a member of Team Walgreens Steps For A Cure. Her team will participate in the ACR’s Relay For Life event held June 15 and 16 at Baker High School. “Each of us on the team is doing this in honor of or in memory of someone. I’m personally doing the Zumbathon in honor of my next door neighbor, Margret Rand. I cannot just sit by and do nothing.”
Held from 9 a.m. to noon June 9 in the Walgreens’ parking lot, 2231 Downer St., Baldwinsville, the event costs $5 per participant. Proceeds from the Zumbathon will benefit ACR through Tanneholtz’ team. The event will feature giveaways and raffles, and zumba participants will receive a free Walk with Walgreens walking kit.
“None of us is a stranger to that six-letter word cancer. We all know someone who has had to fight the fight, family or friend. This was our chance to do some good, to do something that will make a difference,” Tanneholtz said. “We would like to invite everyone that can to come out and show your support for the ACS, for our Team Steps For A Cure and for friends and family that may be battling cancer. Join the party and support the cause.”
