All of the area’s boys golf teams gathered last Monday at Bellevue Country Club for the annual West End Classic.
Westhill shot 207, finishing second, one shot behind Skaneateles. Jordan-Elbridge posted 224, while Marcellus shot 225 and Solvay had 231.
Nate Meisner led the Warriors, his 37 tying Cazenovia’s Trevor Gatzke for individual honors, while Andy Vadnais had a 40. Jack Mourdant, playing for Marcellus, also had a 40.
Then they all went to separate matches a day later, Westhill beating J-E 197-223 at Camillus Country Club as Ryan Conroy, with a 36, and Meisner, with a 37, led the way for the Warriors. The Eagles’ Aaron Iddings shot a 40, one ahead of Vadnais.
Not far away, at Pine Grove, Marcellus rebounded from its poor effort at Bellevue, beating the Solvay Bearcats 204-212.
Alec Mosher blazed to a 34, with Mordaunt and Garrett Thompson each shooting 36. Adam Kinsella had a 38 and Brennan Files got a 40. Solvay teammates Zach Sweet and Jimmy Falella each had a 39, with Kyle Stack (42) and Doug Millet (45) close behind.
Girls golf teams from Westhill and Marcellus went to Wednesday’s Onondaga High School League championship tournament at Woodcrest, where CBA took team honors with a total of 387.
The Warriors finished at 440 and took fourth place, led by Nicole Deming, who posted an 18-hole total of 92, fourth among individuals. Laura Nanno had a 103, with Kaila Zell (118), Abbie Carkner (127) and Amanda Morrissey (139) behind her.
As for the Mustangs, it finished sixth, with 462, with Beth Abbott on top among individuals as she shot a 102. Avery Mordaunt posted 118, one shot ahead of Hannah Abbott, with Tori Bingham (123) and Hollis Abbott (124) close behind.
Marcellus shot 214 in a three-team match last Monday, beating Cazenovia and East Syracuse-Minoa, both of whom shot 231. Beth Abbott shot a 47 to lead all individuals. Mordaunt added a 48.
Westhill went to Butternut Creek and lost a 149-167 decision to Jamesville-DeWitt. Deming shot a 37, with Nanno posting a 42. J-D’s Molly Hair led all individuals with a 33.
West Genesee played last Tuesday and beat Liverpool 205-243. Bridget Hohl shot a 46, backed up by Brianna Corcoran, who posted a 49. Rachel Kavney had a 52 and Lindsey Grome added a 58.
And the Wildcats made it back-to-back wins on Wednesday, topping Central square 208-228 a day later. Corcoran improved to a 48, ahead of Danielle Schmidt, who had a 52, with Kavney getting a 53 and Hohl posting a 55.
