Greg Avellino, associate principal at Fayetteville-Manlius High School, will be the next principal of East Syracuse Minoa Central High School. The ESM Board of Education approved the hire of Avellino, who has spent two years at F-M, effective July 1 at its meeting Monday night.
“Greg Avellino is a highly qualified educational leader with excellent leadership experience at the high school level,” said Donna DeSiato, superintendent of ESM Schools. “We look forward to Mr. Avellino joining the ESM Community.”
Avellino, of Fayetteville, held administrator positions with the Westhill Central School District, Liverpool Central School District and the Syracuse City School District before being hired at F-M in July 2010.
“Greg has been an excellent member of our administrative team,” said F-M Principal Raymond Kilmer. “His contributions will be missed at Fayetteville-Manlius High School. ESM has selected an outstanding instructional leader.”
He will replace Ed Ames, who is retiring after 40 years as a teacher, middle school principal and high school principal at ESM.
