Now the Cazenovia girls track and field team is one meet away from repeating its OHSL Liberty division regular-season title.
The Lakers easily handled two sets of Warriors in Wednesday’s three-way meet at Buckley-Volo Field, turning back Westhill/Bishop Ludden 103-39 and ripping Hannibal by a 130-11 margin.
This time around, Paige Biviano settled for three individual titles. She followed up a 16-second effort the 100-meter hurdles by clearing 5 feet in the high jump and going 15 feet 8 inches to prevail in the long jump.
Jillian Vogl, again breaking the one-minute mark in the 400-meter dash (59.9 seconds, to be exact), also claimed the 200-meter dash in 27.3 seconds as Ashley Winn won the 100-meter dash in 12.6 seconds. Vogl, Winn, Ashley Kent and Anna Schultz were first in the 4×100 relay in 52.5 seconds.
Caroline Marshall achieved her own double, taking the 800-meter run in 2:24.5 and beating the field in the 1,500-meter run in 5:15.0 as Jeannette Cudney ran 3,000 meters in 11:02.8. Marshall, Cudney, Michelle Karker and Margaret Wolsey had a winning time of 11:54.4 in the 4×800 relay.
Liz Pittman backed up her top triple jump of 30’11 ½” by going to the pole vault and clearing 7’6” for a second victory. Molly Woodworth beat the field in the shot put with a toss of 27’7”.
In the simultaneous boys meet, Cazenovia’s boys lost to Westhill/Ludden 99-42 and Hannibal 84-56, this despite three individual titles from Dylan Muller.
An 11-foot pole vault set the tone for Muller as he went to the triple jump and unleashed a top attempt of 39’9 ½”, this as he won the long jump with 18’4”. Westhill/Ludden, who swept both Cazenovia and Hannibal, saw Jack Honis take the 110 high hurdles (15.1 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:01.7) as Corey Wilkinson threw the discus 146 feet and the shot put 49’4”.
Now all that stands between the girls Lakers and the league title is next Wednesday’s meet at Jordan-Elbridge, with Homer the other participant.
