Camillus village board was called to a special meeting Monday, April 30 to vote on and discuss the proposed Sunoco gas station.
That vote, however, has now been delayed to the regular board meeting on May 7.
Additional information was needed from developer John Tal, after lengthy discussions at Monday’s meeting in front of two dozen village residents there to hear the plans.
The village board and Tal were in disagreement on numerous issues in the proposed resolution, including things such as hours of operation for the prepared food section of the store, which would include the Subway restaurant and potentially counter space related to other express-style food brands, and hours of operation for trash pickup and snow removal services.
This meeting was the latest in a long string of conversations surrounding the Sunoco station. A main concern, one resident said, is traffic.
“I’m not naive enough to think this village will be residential forever,” said Joan Wise, of Green Street. “But I think there’s going to be too much traffic and congestion, and I don’t think that’s good for the village.”
The county planning board does not recommend the plan. To overturn that decision, a super-majority vote of the Camillus board would be required. The next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, May 7.
