At the April 9 meeting of the Cazenovia Town Board, councilors updated the public on the upcoming chemical treatment of Cazenovia Lake and approved a resolution authorizing the official naming of School Street in New Woodstock.
After a brief discussion, councilors adopted the notice of completion of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement, relative to the 2012 treatment of the lake.
Moving toward the first treatment of the herbicide Renovate, tentatively scheduled for mid-June, the town is now in Phase III of the project and is soliciting public comments.
“We are on schedule,” said Town Councilor Liz Moran.
The board also officially recognized the 1.4-mile stretch of road joining Route 13 to Webber Road as School Street during the meeting. In the past, the roadway had been regarded as School Street, but was not officially named.
With growing concerns over possible complications with 911 responders, councilors decided the declaration was necessary.
In other board news
—The Burrell residence at 4531 East Lake Road had submitted a request to be included in the town’s nearby sewer district, and after a public hearing, the motion was passed unanimously by councilors.
—The extension of the Joint Farmland Planning Grant from March 30 to July 31 was authorized.
—The use of Emory Avenue by St. James Church for its annual outdoor event was authorized for June 3.
—The execution of a Stormwater Management Control Facility Agreement with Love Associates, of Cazenovia Equipment, was authorized. The formation of the Love Frazee Drainage District was also authorized.
