After holding a joint public hearing on April 3, officials from the village of Baldwinsville and the town of Van Buren are ready to annex several Meigs Road properties into the village from the town. This is in an effort to provide village water to existing and future residents of the properties including the Scott Farm, which has a bad well, and several Pooler Real Estate properties, which are the future sites of homes in the Sun Meadows development. All the applicants are willing participants.
The village has an existing waterline running along Meigs Road and rather than double the service by having the town run a water line up Meigs Road, the municipalities determined it would be more cost efficient to annex the properties into the village so that the residents may have access to public water.
“I am very happy to see the cooperation between the boards and would like to see more in the future,” said Norma Goodman, who was on the planning board when this process began. “I am glad to see this has come to fruition.”
Van Buren officials were waiting for a formal finding of facts from the village’s attorney Dave Jones before taking action to approve the annexation, which they plan to do at the April 19 board meeting. Jones’ findings were ready by the time the village board met on April 5 and the village approved the annexation.
