At least eight departments were called to a house fire in the village of Manlius Monday night.
Firefighters were called to the home, at the corner of Elmbrook and Garrett Drives, around 9 p.m. Monday.
Manlius Fire Chief Paul Whorrall says the fire appears to have started on the west side of the home and spread upward and around to the back. At 10:10 p.m., firefighters were still battling flames in the exterior walls of the home.
No one was injured in the blaze. All occupants of the home, and their pets, made it out safely. The family inside called 911 after seeing part of the home on fire. The woman, who was not identified, told police she heard a “whooshing” noise, like the wind, prior to the blaze.
