Baldwinsville officials have noted the recent bravery of two members of the Baldwinsville Police Department.
Officers James Cerankowski and Robert Thibault were first on the scene at the March 26 fire at Town Square Apartments in Baldwinsville. The two helped evacuate eight of the 10 tenants of the building.
“This is the second time Cerankowski has run into a burning building,” Mayor Joseph Saraceni said about one of the officers referring to a fire that occurred in August of 2007 near the four corners in which Cerankowski helped two residents exit the burning building.
Considering the police department’s response time to incidents such as these, Saraceni suggested the BPD work with local fire departments to offer officers basic fire training. Lt. Thomas LeRoy said he would look into it.
