Bids for the purchase of the village hall building at 46 E. Genesee St. were opened by members of the village board of trustees at a special meeting Monday, March 19.
The village hall meeting room was filled to capacity as Trustee Marc Angellilo opened each of the four bids and read aloud the net amount offered. Also at the bid opening were Trustee John Cromp, Village Clerk Patty Couch and Village Attorney Michael Byrne. Mayor Marty Hubbard, who was out of town, listened to the bid opening via conference call.
The four bids ranged from $437,000 by Skaneateles resident Joseph Vitale to $830,000 by Rick Moscarito, president of Finger Lakes Luxury Homes in Chittenango.
Other bids were $705,000 by Eric Goetzman and $801,000 by Kim Weitsman, the wife of Adam Weitsman, who built a $30 million mansion on Skaneateles Lake and is currently renovating The Krebs for reopening.
“We are very pleased by the number of bids we received,” Angellilo said. “There will not be any decisions made today.”
The entire board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday for its regular board meeting, and at that time the trustees will announce if and how they plan to move forward on the sale of the building. The board previously set a minimum bid price at which they will consider selling the building, although that number was not made public. The trustees do, however, have the discretion to award a bid even if the minimum was not reached.
