The village of Manlius Board of Trustees raised its ambulance fees to match those of the village of Fayetteville at its regular meeting Tuesday, March 13.
“The village of Fayetteville’s rate is about 6 percent higher than our rate,” village Clerk-Treasurer Martha Dygert said. “This brings us to the same level.”
In addition, the board agreed to go to a “Phase II” collection procedure for payments outstanding for ambulance services for those who have been reimbursed for those services through their insurance companies that have not submitted payment to the village.
“CAG [Certified Ambulance Group] provides the village with a list of outstanding receivables [and] there are quite a few who have received compensation from their insurance companies that did not pay the village. The village could step up collections [with] letters, phone calls and, if there is no resolution, we could even take them to small claims court.”
Ladder truck sold
In other business, the board authorized the sale of the fire department’s old ladder truck to the Glanville Fire Department for $100,001.
Fire Chief Paul Whorrall told the board the offer was the only one on the table for the truck, which had been built by three companies, “two of which are out of business, making it difficult to find replacement parts.”
