The Skaneateles Village Hall building at 46 E. Genesee St. contains no “recognized environmental conditions associated with the property,” according to the Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment recently completed.
The study, completed by Plumley Engineering, of Bladwinsville, was commissioned by the village board of trustees as part of the process for sale of the village hall building, which is part of the larger proposed plan to renovate the old fire station on Fennell Street and relocate the village municipal offices to that site.
The environmental assessment was based upon a historical records search, interviews and an inspection of the site.
“Abstract of Title documents, aerial photographs and topographic maps indicate the property has been utilized solely for commercial and municipal purposes. The Village of Skaneateles currently owns the property. The building on the property has been used for municipal offices since 1929. This assessment revealed no recognized environmental conditions associated with the property,” according to the report.
A full copy of the report can be reviewed in the village office, and a copy can be made upon request by Village Clerk Patty Couch.
Since the building was officially opened for purchase bidding on Feb. 13, more than one dozen interested people have toured through the building, and about a half dozen emails concerning the property have been received by the village clerk as of Feb. 23, Couch said.
Bids on the building will be accepted by the village board until 2 p.m. Monday, March 19. The winning bid, if there is one, will be announced and accepted at the Thursday, March 22, regular board meeting.
The building will be sold to the highest bidder as long as the minimum reserve price, previously set by the village board but not made public, is met.
