Gregg Humphrey, the village of Baldwinsville codes officer, has been actively identifying unsafe properties within the village. Humphrey identified the three worst properties (72 and 74 Lock St. and 108 Syracuse St.) during the last village board meeting, citing rotting foundations, collapsed roofs and sagging ceilings. In addition, the property at 108 Syracuse St. runs the risk of sinking into Crooked Brook. Property owners will have 30 days to respond with a plan to correct or demolish the properties and another 30 days to enact the plan.
In addition, Humphrey cited problems with the former Tri-County Mall.
“It is hazardous,” he said. “[When considering] the unsafe structure laws of the village . . . it affects the morals, if you will; it’s an attractive nuisance as you say.” He added that the village police have been to the property on numerous occasions after receiving calls about youth trespassing on the property.
