A homeless Syracuse man has been charged in a burglary after his photo appeared in the Post-Standard.
Aaron Dean, 19, who lives at the Rescue Mission, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and petit larceny. Police say Dean was involved in a burglary at a downtown attorney’s office. A check belonging to one of the attorneys who works at the firm was taken in the Jan. 26 incident.
Police allege Dean took the check and cashed it at the M&T Bank in downtown Syracuse. Detectives investigating the forged check left surveillance photos with the law office. An employee of that law office called police after seeing Dean’s photo in a front-page photo in Tuesday’s Post-Standard. Dean was noted in a story about Occupy Syracuse.
He’s expected to be arraigned in Syracuse court Wednesday, Feb. 1.
