The John Lerner Band reunites this weekend after a 10-year layoff.
The classic rock party band performs from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Fireside Inn, 2345 W. Genesee St., in Baldwinsville. Admission is free; 638-0214
“We’ll play 1970s dance music,” Lerner said, “and since we were once a Phish tribute band, we’ll do some Phish as well.”
Red beans at Bar-B-Que
Mississippi guitarist Johnny Rawls returns to the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, followed by Syracuse’s own Grupo Pagan at 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30.
Jam-masters Turnip Stampede perform at 10 p.m. Dec. 31, and that New Year‘s Eve bash will include a champagne toast and free red beans and rice at midnight.
The world-famous barbecue bistro will be serving booze and food from noon to 10 p.m. on New Year’s Day.
Sean Patrick Taylor will entertain at 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, followed by Dave “Big D” Schneider on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Collective swings at Suds
On the first Wednesday of each month, the 16-piece Salt City Jazz Collective holds fort from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Syracuse Suds Factory, South Clinton and Walton streets, in Armory Square.
Led by trombonist Joe Colombo, the Collective performs hard-charging charts by Duke Ellington, Buddy Rich, Count Basie, Stan Kenton and Woody Herman. The band also performs compositions and arrangements by band members Joe Riposo and Angelo Candela.

Folk duo dances too!
For more than 25 years, Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly have been performing their unique blend of traditional American and Celtic folk music along with their original songs. The husband-and-wife duo from Rhode Island plays a wide variety of instruments including dulcimer, banjo, tin whistle, harmonica, guitar and mandolin.
Atwater-Donnelly will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at May Memorial Unitarian Universalist Society, 3800 East Genesee St., in Syracuse.
The duo’s delightful concerts include old-time gospel songs, a cappella pieces, and dance tunes featuring Appalachian clog dancing, French-Canadian footwork and tap dancing.

Crunch tackle Senators
The Syracuse Crunch continues the 2011-12 American Hockey League season with a home game against the Binghamton Senators at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at the Onondaga County War Memorial at State and Harrison streets, downtown. ‘Pirates’ romp New Year’s Eve
Evil 18th century British pirates plan to raid the North Pole and kidnap Santa Claus as Bob Greene’s Acme Mystery Theatre Co. presents “Pirates of the Yuletide,” an interactive comedy, at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, and closes Thursday, Jan. 5, at the Spaghetti Warehouse, 689 N. ‘Treasure Trove’ on Ice
A magical medley of tales from the Walt Disney’s animated archives will entertain CNYers when “Disney On Ice presents Treasure Trove” at the Onondaga County War Memorial next week.
