Following a month-long, area-wide contest to find a new company slogan, Cazenovia Jewelry recently chose a victor, and the winning catchphrase. On Dec. 2, Margaret Williams, of DeWitt, was presented with a matching pair of his-and-hers Skagen watches, as well as bragging rights for her winning submission, “For a gift from the heart.”
“One thing that I really like about Cazenovia Jewelry is that they’re a local company,” Williams said. “They’re established, and they have a reputation that’s a combination of elegance and tradition. I know they carry a lot of wedding rings, but I always think of coming here to get a special gift for someone else.”
The contest began in late October, and more than 60 slogans were submitted to Cazenovia Jewelry. Following the contest deadline on Nov. 22, co-owners Susan Machamer and Ralph Monforte sifted through the entries and decided to award Williams the pair of watches.
“It was really hard to pick just one, we had some great entries,” Machamer said. “We worked through them all and figured out what sounded like the best slogan for our business. Margaret’s winning entry was simple, and wasn’t too long or too hard to remember. We are very happy with it.”
After first hearing about the slogan contest on the Eagle News website, Williams, a human resource manager for COR Development in Fayetteville, said she immediately began thinking of suitable slogans for Cazenovia Jewelry, and initially ended up with three different submissions. It wasn’t until she was put on hold by an airline customer service center in Taiwan, when she scribbled down the winning slogan on her notepad.
“I guess being a little stressed, and then put on hold got my creative juices flowing,” Williams said. “Luckily, I had a pencil and some paper nearby.”
Machamer said the business will use the slogan in all of its upcoming advertising and promotions at both the Cazenovia and Fayetteville locations.
Celebrating its 26th year in business, Cazenovia Jewelry continues to offer customers an extensive collection of gold, silver and gemstones, as well as full repair services for jewelry and watches, including battery replacement. While the Fayetteville location offers a wide array of products, the Cazenovia store includes exclusive giftware lines, including Leed and Barton, Waterford and Machamer’s own collection, Susan Machamer Jewelry Design.
Cazenovia Jewelry can be visited at 49 Albany St. in Cazenovia or at 533 Towne Drive, of the Towne Center in Fayetteville.
