Local volunteers are packing shoe boxes for needy kids overseas to prepare for the holiday season.
Operation Christmas Child — an effort that has hand-delivered 86 million gifts to kids internationally — is coming to the Syracuse area. Samaritan’s Purse, a year-round project, is coming to a peak as businesses, churches and schools finish off the boxes. The boxes contain school supplies, toys, hygiene items and notes of encouragement.
The National Collection Week is Nov. 14 to 21. Volunteers can drop off their shoe box gifts at Faith Chapel on Adee Avenue.
The collection can take place between 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, or from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
