Town of Marcellus residents will see two new Town Councilors this January. One of those seats, however, remains undecided.
Candidate Peter Hakes takes a seat as town councilor with 812 ballots. Mary Jo Paul, a village of Marcellus trustee, currently leads the race to take the other seat with 610 votes to incumbent Donald Sherman’s 605 votes.
Sixty-seven absentee ballots remain uncounted. Final results will be available Thursday, Nov. 17.
Hakes is from Mount Morris, a small town south of Rochester, and settled in Marcellus in 2006. An attorney with offices located on South Street Road, Hakes hopes to bring a “new, younger perspective to the town.”
