Joseph Catania, a Fayetteville orthodontist, will again offer patients, friends and families a chance to exchange their Halloween candy for cash. Both patients and non-patients can bring their Halloween candy to Catania’s office at 7000 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville, from Nov. 1 to 10, and Catania will match $1 per pound of candy to benefit the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.
Candy collected will go to local food pantries along with various food staples.
“When patients are paid for their Halloween candy, it helps them avoid the potential for harming their braces or teeth and helps keep their treatment on schedule,” Catania said. “In addition, we help out area charities.”
Before Halloween, Catania will again sponsor a “haunted office” event from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. Admission is one non-perishable item per person to be donated to local food pantries. Cider and donuts will be served, and attendees can enter a free raffle to win a Visa gift card on both days.
