An Elbridge Fire Department captain has been identified as the man injured in a snowmobile crash Saturday in Sterling.
According to a Jan. 30 report in thePost-Standard , Cayuga County deputies and firefighters said Patrick Ely, 26, of Route 5, Elbridge, was taken by helicopter to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse after the snowmobile he was operating collided with a tree. He sustained serious leg injuries in the crash.
The accident was reported at around 3 p.m. Saturday and happened on trails near Short Cut Road, Sterling Station Road and Crosgrove Road.
