Village officials have awarded a $397,000 bid to Landmark Enterprises of Auburn to develop the Village Square project destined for the area where the old Harrington Firehouse once stood.
The village received 13 bids from contractors ranging from $397,000 to $577,000. The bid covers excavation of the property, curbing and asphalt improvements, sidewalks and a central plaza. However, other details still need to be worked out.
Village Engineer Tim Baker said the contractor may be better suited to do some work the department of public works originally intended to do, specifically installing catch basins for storm water drainage. He said a bulldozer is needed for the amount of earth that will have to be moved for installation, and the village doesn’t own one. Besides the drainage installation, the DPW will handle demolition, lighting for the square and the subsequent planting of trees and shrubs once construction is complete.
