Staying within range of Baldwinsville in the CNY Counties League National division, the Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool girls volleyball teams both earned multiple wins.
In last Monday’s match against Auburn, the Northstars were in control all the way through, sweeping the Maroons 25-7, 25-16, 25-18.
CNS had a balanced front line that included Cara Gannett earning seven kills and Alex Silfer producing six kills. Carly Rebecchi added five kills as, on the back line, Meghan Ross (seven assists) and Andrea Goettel (six assists) split the duties. Emily Becker served up four aces as Ross contributed three kills and two blocks.
In Thursday night’s 25-7, 25-3, 25-7 sweep of Institute of Technology Central, Goettel served up seven aces and Gannett had four aces. Stephanie Gagnon picked up a team-best six kills, while Carly Rebecchi had four kills. Ross gained five assists and three kills.
Liverpool went out last Monday and beat Corcoran in three games 25-13, 25-14, 25-20. Anna Daucher and Paige Calabrese saved points, each of them earning 24 digs, with Daucher adding five kills, three aces and two blocks. Brooke Holland got 16 digs as Jenna Street put together nine assists, 14 digs, four aces and three kills. Dorothy Rosekrans earned six kills.
Two nights later, the Warriors swept Auburn 25-12, 25-11, 25-11. Daucher mixed in seven kills with 11 digs and three aces, with Holland (11 digs) and Calabrese (eight digs) leading the defensive push. Street had 13 assists, with Rosekrans contributing six kills and four digs.
This week, Liverpool has back-to-back tests against Fayetteville-Manlius and Oswego. CNS has a Wednesday showdown with reigning Section III Class B champion Skaneateles, which comes in between matches against Fowler and Nottingham.
