Capping what had been a superb week where it beat three foes, Cicero-North Syracuse’s boys golf team knocked off rival Baldwinsville 200-209 Friday at Northern Pines to improve its overall record to 8-4.
Damian George had the top nine-hole score of 37. Both George and teammate Mike Cavallo, who had a 38, topped Bees teammates Jon Bovee and Nick Dunham (39 each), while Cory Piper offered support by shooting a 40.
Two days earlier, CNS Blue took out Liverpool 203-213 at Northern Pines. George, Cavallo and Eric Misiaszek each shot equal totals of 40, ahead of the Warriors’ top players. Connor Weakley had a 41 for Liverpool as teammate David Pistarino posted a 42.
Home for all of its matches during the week, The Northstars last Monday earned a 194-205 victory over the Auburn Maroons. Misiaszek and Mike Mento each shot 38, one shot behind the Maroons’ Mike Biata, but CNS Blue had more depth. Cavallo and George each shot 39 and Wes Sprague produced a 40.
In non-league action on Thursday afternoon, CNS Blue fell to Tully 205-208, even though Cavallo’s 36 was the top individual round by three shots. Mento added a 41.
Liverpool’s week commenced with a 211-228 defeat to Rome Free Academy. David Pisciarino shot a 43 at Liverpool Country Club and Michael Gabriel posted a 45, both behind the Black Knights’ Matt Hughes, who led his side with a 38.
On Thursday, the Warriors bounced back from the CNS Blue loss, beating Corcoran 216-227 at Sunset Ridge. Josh Anthony led the individuals with a 40, while Ryan Contegni stepped up to shoot a 42 and Weakley contributed a 44.
CNS’s Green team returned to action Wednesday, falling to
CNY Counties League leader West Genesee 186-215, also at Northern Pines. Kevin Stone, who posted a score of 40, finished behind five Wildcat players, including Nick Holzhauer, who had a 33. Derek Teague shot a 42 as Joey Petrin (43) and Justin Tyler (44) also played well. CNS Green also lost 224-236 to Oswego on Friday, Tyler posting a 46 at Oswego Country Club.
