On Friday, the Cazenovia girls track and field team struck again, winning the Division II (small-school) portion of the East Syracuse-Minoa Invitational with 109 points, well ahead of runner-up Skaneateles (74 points) and the rest of the 13-team field.
Paige Biviano, with a time of 16.34 seconds, won the 100-meter hurdles by 1.4 seconds over Beaver RIver’s Rachel Updike. She also took second in the long jump, going 15 feet 8 1/4 inches, and cleared 5 feet for second place in the high jump.
Jillian Vogl and Audrey Bowers went 1-2 in the 100-meter dash, Vogl winning in 13.34 seconds and Bowers (13.58 seconds) behind her. Bowers also was fifth in the 200-meter dash, with Katie Woodworth sixth. In the 4×100 relay, Vogl, Bowers, Woodworth and Rachel Schmidtka claimed second place in 53.77 seconds.
Hollie Marcelle ran her way to second in the 800-meter run in 2:29.01, while Liddell got third place in the 400 hurdles in 1:15.44. Whitney Goris was fourth in the 3,000-meter run (11:35.48) and Michelle Karker took fifth place. Rae Tobey was fifth in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in 8:14.30. Marcelle, Goris, Karker and Emma Wolsey claimed third in the 4×800 relay with a clocking of 11:12.52.
In field events, Piper Gianforte won the pole vault, the only athlete to clear 9 feet as Michelle McGinnis finished sixth Grace Eberle was fourth in the discus (76 feet 2 1/2 inches), while Christy Tainter got fourth place (27 feet 7 1/2 inches) and Ellen Burr fifth in the shot put.
