Mostly through its sweeps of the distance events, the Jordan-Elbridge boys track and field team won its head-to-head clash with Solvay last Wednesday at Earl Hadley Stadium, beating the Bearcats 76-65 as it also toppled Cazenovia 85-53. Cody Stanton led J-E, taking the 3,200-meter run in 10:12.4, while Mike Marrero prevailed in the mile (4:54.3) and Greg Bader ran 800 meters in 2:10.3. That trio also helped the Eagles win the 4×800 relay in a time of 8:55.4. Elsewhere, Andrew Conlan took the 100-meter dash in 11.5 seconds, and the Eagles’ 4×400 relay quartet of Bader, Marrero, Nick Burns and Carlan Coomey won in 3:43.7. Solvay had its fair share of titles, too, including C.J. Brooks tossing the shot put 48 feet 3 inches and flinging the discus 120 feet 4 3/4 inches. Matt Fedrizzi claimed first in the 400-meter dash (54.3 seconds), with Xander Nappi running 200 meters in 24 seconds flat and John Salvagno taking the 400 hurdles in 1:02.9. Ed Buczakowski won the 110 high hurdles (17.8 seconds) as Jerry Santoferrara cleared 10 feet in the pole vault. Solvay would also claim the 4×100 relay, where Nappi, Buczakowski, Chris Hoffman and Alex Miro held off J-E and Cazenovia to win in 47.8 seconds.
