In an effort to consolidate costs, the Baldwinsville Central School District and the Town of Lysander have agreed to share special counsel in the matter of tax assessment review proceedings brought by Anheuser Busch, Inc.
The Lysander brewery is suing the town to cut its tax assessment from $96.6 million to $35 million. The plant currently pays nearly $3.4 million in property taxes, $713,00 of which goes to the town and $2.5 million, which goes to the school district.
The school district terminated their special counsel and are now represented by Lysander’s attorneys at Bond, Schoeneck and King, PLLC.
Village approves overlay district
Village officials have approved an overlay district, which will affect downtown Baldwinsville’s business area. The overlay concerns the zoning of the area, specifically, and aims to improve the layout and aesthetics of Baldwinsville’s business district.
“This overlay district gives the planning board the ability to work with developers on new concepts for that area,” said Mayor Joseph Saraceni.
Lysander receives grant
Lysander has received a grant, secured by Senator John DeFrancisco, for $5,000 from the New York State Office of Park Recreation and Historic Preservation. The grant will be used to offset expenses for the Summer Concert Series of the Lysander Parks and Recreation Department.
Tree City USA
Baldwinsville has been named a Tree City USA for the 23rd consecutive year for the village’s dedication to planting and maintaining trees.
