The Solvay-Geddes-Camillus Kiwanis Club recently organized and sponsored the K-Kids club at Dr. Weeks School and presented the charter for the new group on Feb. 24.
The K-Kids club was organized for children primarily in fourth- and fifth-grades at the school to help them serve the schools and community while building self-esteem and build character.
There are currently 24 members, who have already performed projects such as wrapping tows and holding a Christmas party for pre-K students. The club is planning projects to benefit Haitian earthquake victims and provide for needs of the Ronald McDonald House.
Lisa Scali, a Kiwanian and teacher at the school, is the faculty advisor. Kathy Amman is a Kiwanis representative and advisor; Jen Acevedo and Elvira Spriggs are parent advisors.
