Back at Manley Field House nearly two weeks after the Section III championships, the Jamesville-DeWitt and Fayetteville-Manlius girls indoor track and field teams both would claim convincing victories on Monday night in separate league meets.
In the CNY Counties League American division, the Hornets had 144 points, more than double the total of runner-up Corcoran (62 points) to finish in front. And in the OHSL Freedom division, the Red Rams won with 172 points, way ahead of Homer (72 points) and the rest of the eight-team field.
For F-M, distance runners reigned again. Jillian Fanning and Maggie Malone dominated the 3,000-meter run, as Fanning won in 10:34.78 and Malone (10:53.99) was second.
Katie Sischo, in the 1,000-meter run, nearly beat the three-minute mark — 3:00.37, to be exact — as Heather Martin took second in 3:02.61. Sischo would also win the 1,500-meter run in 4:48.71, holding off West Genesee eighth-grader Laura Leff (4:52.31) to do so.
In the 600-meter run, it was Kathryn Fanning getting the victory in 1:40.05 and Courtney Chapman second in 1:40.58. Fanning, Sischo, Martin and Kathryn Fanning ran the 4×800 relay and won in 9:39.16.
Molly Levy, Alex Seabury, Isabel Carapella and Hanna Lee got to second in the 4×200 relay in 1:54.22. Alyssa Hamel and Levy were third and fourth, respectively, in the 55-meter dash. Audrey Wallace got to third in the 300-meter dash (44.91 seconds), just ahead of Seabury in fourth place.
In field events, Kelly Perry won the long jump, going 16 feet 5 inches as Seabury took second (15 feet 8 1/4 inches). Hannah Krizman was second in the triple jump (28 feet 4 3/4 inches) as Yousi Oquendo was third in the shot put (24 feet 11 1/2 inches).
J-D, in the OHSL Freedom meet, had Marae Tearney beat teammate Sierra Vasiliou, 7.70 seconds to 7.88, in the 55-meter dash. Tearney also won the shot put with a toss of 33 feet 1 1/4 inches as Olivia Costa (28 feet 5 1/4 inches) finished second.
Natalie Mannion, Liz Pieri, Katy Pieri and Linsay Royer roar to victory in the 4×400 in 4:11.67 as Liz Pieri claimed the 300 in 44 seconds flat. In the 4×200, Mannion, Royer, Tearney and Amanda Tan won big in 1:51.90, more than five seconds ahead of the field.
Tan added a victory in the long jump (15 feet 9 1/14 inches), were Vasiliou was third, and in the triple jump Mannion (33 feet 10 1/4 inches) and Tan (32 feet 7 3/4 inches) went 1-2.
Eileen Cody needed 3:12.31 to win the 1,000, then moved to the 1,500 and earned a second victory as she posted a time of 5:16.53. Hannah Stefl won the 3,000 in 11:49.46. Katy Pieri was second in the 600 (1:44.83).
In one instance, East Syracuse-Minoa bested J-D as Cara Andrianos, Angela Shaw, Andrea Reidman and Nicole Verone put up a time of 11:15.18 in the 4×800, holding off J-D (11:16.91) for the top spot. But Danielle Doss cleared 7 feet 6 inches to win the pole vault as Margaret Fuller (5 feet) and McKenzie Kallquist were second and fourth, respectively, in the high jump.
CBA earned 44 points for fourth place in the OHSL Liberty/Patriot division meet. Katie Brislin won the 600 in a time of 1:40.90, with teammate Rachel Zajdel (1:45.01) in fourth place.
Betty Etheredge claimed the long jump, going 15 feet 10 1/2 inches, then added a second victory in the triple jump by going 33 feet 1 inch. Michaela Gildemeyer was second in the 1,000 (3:19.61) as Ashley Letteney took fifth in the 300.
