To cap off his terrific senior season, Skaneateles boys cross country senior Calvin Davis joined the Section III All-Stars in beating the rest of the field at last Saturday’s New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship meet at SUNY-Plattsburgh.
Davis competed in the Class C boys race, where Section III, with 182 points, pulled away from Section I (323 points) and the rest of the field by putting all of its five individual runners in the top 30.
That included Davis, who covered the 3.1-mile Plattsburgh course in 16 minutes, 28.1 seconds, taking 13th place among individuals, not that far from Brandon Freyer (Pawling), who won in 15:30.9.
As for his teammates, Davis got help from Canastota’s Aaron Walker, who was eighth in 16:20.7, and Jordan-Elbridge’s Mike Marrero, who was 10th in 16:23.8. Behind Davis, Tully’s Ohure Sam claimed 17th place (16:32.9) and CBA’s Tom Voorheis clinched the title with his 30th-place time of 16:56.5.
