Karen Humphrey
Administrative Intern,Marcellus Senior High School
Family: I am married to Mark Humphrey and I have two daughters, Camryn is 6 years old and Delayna is 2 years old.
Teaching/Administration: I have been teaching for 10 years in the Central Square School District. I have always enjoyed working with children. When my brother was a toddler, I loved to teach him about numbers, letters, and shapes. From this experience, I realized that I had a passion for teaching. I have completed my undergraduate work and graduate work from the State University of Oswego. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Literacy. Currently, I have gone back to SUNY Oswego for my Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration.
This summer, I was the Middle School Assistant Principal through Oswego County BOCES. I worked with students from all Oswego County school districts. I have learned a lot about administration from this experience and look forward to using this knowledge during my internship at Marcellus Senior High School.
I am enthusiastic about being the Administrative Intern at Marcellus Senior High School. I look forward to meeting and working with all the students, parents, and staff members. I was drawn to the Marcellus community by its dedication to education and strong community relationships. My goal for this school year is to help challenge and nurture the learning of students and teachers of Marcellus Senior High School.
My favorite subject is… My favorite subject is reading. I believe that an educator is a life-long learner. I like reading about new concepts and technologies that will enhance the learning environment. I am dedicated to teaching students the process of reading and to instill a love for reading in their hearts.
If I weren’t a teacher… At home I find it delicious to make chocolate treats. If I weren’t a teacher, I would like to open a chocolate shop similar to The Chocolate Pizza Company in Marcellus.
