At its Aug. 3 board meeting, the Cazenovia village board set the fall hours for the Lakeside Park boat launch, and also approved the addition of a $40 late season boat launch permit available immediately for use Aug. 4 through the remainder of the season.
The launch will continue to operate daily from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. through Labor Day, and will then be open on weekends through Columbus Day from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. The launch will close following the Columbus Day holiday on Oct. 12.
This will allow local residents to get their boats off the water for the season and continues the village’s commitment to providing 100-percent inspection of all crafts entering the water through the Lakeside Park access.
Previously issued permits for this season are already eligible for the fall hours and do not need to be replaced. The late season permit will be priced at $40, which represents a $20 permit fee and a $20 environmental impact fee. The permit will continue to be provided free of charge to residents of the village and town of Cazenovia. Proceeds from the permit will be used to fund the fall hours. Limited weekday morning hours may be added if sales allow.
“The boat launch has had a successful season to date,” village officials said in a news release. “The village’s boat inspection process has recently received attention as a model for other communities, such as Skaneateles, which are currently devising their own plans to combat invasive species. With the visible success of the first Renovate treatment this summer, the village remains more dedicated than ever to protecting our community’s investment in this treatment by providing continued vigilance with its inspection regime.”
Permits are available in the village office in the Municipal Building at 90 Albany Street. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
