Approximately 600 people attended Saturday’s Taste of Baldwinsville.
“The event was as successful as ever in terms of restaurant participation, attendance and the support of local businesses,” said Megan O’Donnell, co-chair of the event and president of the BVC Board of Directors. “The bidding on the auction was lively, raising over $9,000, to add to our sponsorships of the event, ticket sales and raffle drawings.”
The Baldwinsville Teachers Association engaged in a friendly competition amongst district schools’ staff to see whose basket could raise the most money. Durgee Junior High School teachers took not only the highest bid among the district competition, but the highest bid of the night with their fun and fitness basket, which included a Wii and WiiFit. The basket fetched a $500 bid.
Abbotts Landing, Radisson Book Club, Fairways North, Baldwin Hill, Chaucer Circle, Sun Meadows and Harbour Heights competed in the neighborhood basket competition. Baldwin Hill took home bragging rights for bringing in the most money for the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center with their golf bag with assorted golf accessories and gift certificates donation.
“We know that in this time of economic uncertainty the community is stretched very thin and we would like to thank those who have continued to support the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center with such enthusiasm,” O’Donnell said.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center. For more information about the BVC, visit bvillevolunteers.org.
