The Hamilton girls basketball team’s undefeated run continued Thursday night at home when it ripped past Rome Catholic 58-39 to make it 19 consecutive wins.
Still no. 3 in the state Class D rankings, Hamilton took charge in a hurry against the Red Wings, nearly pitching a first-quarter shutout while grabbing a 17-4 lead.
And though Hamilton cooled off a bit in the second period, it started to roll again after the break, going through an 18-8 third quarter to secure yet another win.
Kylie Martin, who went past 1,000 career points in a Feb. 6 victory over West Canada Valley, took apart Rome Catholic’s defense with 25 points. Both Martin and Kati Baker (six points) hit on a pair of 3-pointers. Jess Brawn supplied the inside help, earning 14 points.
