Each of the area’s indoor track and field teams was forced to sit idle on Jan. 28 as winter weather wiped out the John Arcaro Invitational.
But it cleared up eight days later for the runners and jumpers to return to Manley Field House for last Thursday’s George Constantino Invitational, where plenty of good things happened.

In the long jump, David Salbert was third with 20 feet 1 inch as ESM’s Lenny Kerznowski earned all his team’s points with a fourth-place leap of 19 feet 9 1/4 inches.
Alex Hatz arrived for F-M in the mile and dominated that race, the state Class AA cross country individual champion posting a time of 4:18.46 to beat Liverpool’s Colin Savage by more than 10 seconds. Brendan Farrell finished fifth in 4:31.33.
On Monday (girls) and Tuesday (boys), these same athletes will be back at Manley for the Section III championship meets.
