Snow Blast weekend kicks-off on Friday Feb. 6 at the Rusty Rail and features two live shows.
Elvis tribute artist Joe Angerosa will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. followed by the East Shore All-Starts finishing off the night from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
The buffet dinner will take place from 6 to 8 p.m.
Basket raffles will take place throughout the evening.
Presale tickets sell for $10 or $12 at the door. Tickets for entertainment only sell for $5 and can be purchased at the door.
The teen kick-off party for kids in grades seven through 12 will also be held at the Rusty Rail from 7 to 10 p.m. It features DJ Steve-O, pizza and soda. Presale tickets sell from $5 and $7 at the door.
Kick-off tickets can be purchased at the village office or the library.
Saturday events
The meatball cook-off will once again be held in the cafeteria of Roberts Street School. Contestants are asked to have their “special recipe” ready for judging promptly at 12:30 p.m.
Many events will be held at Spencer Street Park including the snowball target throw, the rope ladder climb and one of the most popular events from last year, the snow volleyball tournament.
“Snoccer” or snow soccer will be held at Roberts Street School and includes Canastota’s local AYSO hosting a multiple of games for children ages 4 to 12.
Also for the kids is Moreland the Magician, performing at 1:30 p.m. at the Canastota Public Library.
The human dog sled race will be held in the Roberts Street School parking lot. In case there is no snow, racing will take place using one common sled, “The Spirit of Canastota,” manufactured by S&S Engineering. Pre-registration is encouraged.
Couch races will be held on the ice at Spencer Street Park. Costumes and hats are welcomed.
Broomball is back and added this year is adult pick-up broomball.
Pre-registration is encouraged by not required for the events.
Throughout different events on Saturday, local Boy Scouts will provide refreshments of hot and cold beverages, chicken riggies, hot dogs, chili dogs, chili, soup and candy.
The fireworks show will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Roberts Street School featuring a bonfire.
New this year is an outdoor movie at ZEM’s immediately following the fireworks. It also includes a bonfire. Local Boy Scouts will provide refreshments and snacks.
