Bringing his visions into reality is what Hubbardsville artist Thomas Robert Meyers strives to achieve in his photography.
Mostly self-taught, Thomas always did art from a very early age. “I fell in love with the Polaroid transfers at the age of 16 and have done them ever since,” Thomas says. “I am not a technical photographer, rather I use the camera like a paintbrush to paint with reality rather than record it.”
Thomas prints his work at his home studio.
“Living in the country brings a less stressful, more self sufficient lifestyle which is very conducive to making art,” he said.
When asked about the artist role in today’s society, Thomas said, “By artists expressing their viewpoints, it allows people to see and think in new and novel ways, which is vital for the evolution of a society.”
Thomas’s work has been published in Camera Arts magazine and is currently in New Art International, a yearly publication. He also has self published a book available on his web site. You can see Thomas’s photography now at Porters Gallery on 20 Broad Street in Hamilton or visit his web site at thomasrobertmeyers.com.
