Having a full roster on hand paid off for Solvay’s wrestling team during last Wednesday’s meet at Homer, where the Bearcats beat the Trojans 48-27. Of Solvay’s eight wins, just three came on the mat, all in a row. Mitch Anthony, at 145 pounds, pinned Ben Chase 37 seconds into the third period, while Mike Warne (152 pounds) finished off John McCall in 1:45 and Cirro Nicoletti-Watson (160 pounds) got his pin over James Cockern in 3:44. Otherwise, Solvay watched as Riley Delaney (103 pounds), J.T. Romagnoli (112 pounds), Mitch Anthony (119 pounds), Aaron Benedict (130 pounds) and Tom Bradley (215 pounds) all claimed forfeits. On Friday and Saturday, the Bearcats compete in the annual Richard New Memorial Tournament at Canastota.
