Liverpool’s girls basketball team continued to have early-season struggles as it headed into the holiday break.
Twice denied a chance to play Baldwinsville by snowstorms the weekend before, the Warriors did face Central Square last Tuesday night, taking a 47-36 loss to the Red Hawks.
They went back and forth in the first half. Liverpool trailed, 11-8, after one period, but played solid defense in the second quarter and went to halftime with a 19-16 lead.
That didn’t last long, either, as Central Square gradually assumed control in the third quarter, holding the Warriors to just seven points in that frame and going ahead for good.
Ally Zywicki hit on four 3-pointers, leading Liverpool with 15 points. Chrissy Scalisi added eight points. Courtney Shoales (18 poitns) and Candice Rowland (13 points) led the Red Hawks to victory.
On Sunday, Liverpool faced host Maine-Endwell in the opening round of the Pete Hyde Tournament, where West Genesee and Vestal are also playing.
