After a week to rest and train, the Baldwinsvillle cross country teams went to last Saturday’s Weedsport Invitational and dominated in both the male and female divisions.
The Bees ruled on the boys Division I side with 22 points, well clear of Auburn, who, with 86 points, edged past Auburn (88) for second place.
All told, B’ville grabbed four of the top five finishing spots, including Cory Greczyn, who finished in 16 minutes, 47.7 seconds, well clear of Auburn’s Scott Garrett (17:04.7), who got second place.
Following Garrett, three more Bees crossed the line. Adam Pacheck, in a clocking of 17:08.2, while Shaun Thompson earned fourth place (17:12.6) and Seth Jackson finished fifth in 17:14.9. Tim Chambers gained 10th place in 17:28 flat as Mark Tiller finished 18th (18:13.6) and Dan Loparco took 21st place, in 18:25.6.
As for the B’ville girls team, it did not have top runners Danae Polsin and Esther Hatalla in the lineup at Weedsport, yet it still won the Division II title with 27 points as Holland Patent (69 points) was far behind in second place.
Amanda Sprague led the Bees’ charge, taking fourth place in 21:01.4. Danielle Petti was right behind, in fifth place (21:13.6), as Kristina Sprague landed in sixth place in 21:18.2.
Melissa Matthews, in eighth place (21:27.8), and Molly Quinn, in ninth place (21:29.0), both finished in the top 10, too, as Ashley Shaheen earned 12th place in 21:46.0. Chloe Parker (23:27.4) worked her way to 23rd place.
B’ville will close out its regular-season work Wednesday with a three-way meet that also includes West Geensee and Central Square.
