Due to repairs at its well-used home oval, the Liverpool girls track and field team will spend the entire 2007 season competing elsewhere.
That won’t keep the Warriors from being a big presence in every meet, including last Wednesday’s season-opening Tully Spring Break Invitational.
Two of the three relays went in Liverpool’s favor. Emily Coldren, Janeeka Benson, Nachez Brown and Nikki Liadka teamed to take the 4×100 relay in 51.9 seconds, while Miranda McConnell, Alyssa Thomas, Jenna Notar and Skye Borasky worked together to win the 4×400 relay in a time of 4:35.1.
Coldren, on her own, was victorious in the 100-meter dash in 13 seconds flat as Megan Abold and Erika Salen each clocked 14.4 seconds.
Liverpool also swept the distance races. McConnell took the 1,500-meter run (5:11.2), while Trina Bills ran 800 meters in 2:24.9 and Brigid Heenan battled to take the 3,000-meter event in 11:49.7. Heenan’s teammate, Lesley Bowers, was third in 12:16.3.
Allison Eagan dominated the pole vault, clearing 9 feet 6 inches to take that event. Jennifer Culp (29 feet 1 inch) and Nikeshia Parker (28 feet 5 1/4 inches) were second and third, respectively, in the shot put as Culp got second in the discus with 81 feet 6 inches and Javannah Forell (76 feet 5 inches) was third.
This came after the Warriors’ scheduled opener at Henninger, on April 4, was postponed by weather. Liverpool goes to Baldwinsville on Wednesday afternoon.
