The town of Salina has had its share of troubles in the last few months.
This summer’s heavy rains revealed that the town’s entire drainage system requires a complete overhaul. Now, two of its parks need major repairs.
At the town board’s regular meeting Tuesday Oct. 10, town engineer James Thrasher of Clough Harbor Associates pointed out problems at Electronics Park and Duerr Park. One wall of the pool at Electronics is bowing inward, and it will cost the town some $20,000 to even find out why. Meanwhile, the pump station at Duerr Park needs replacing.
The board first heard about the issue with the pool. “We’ve had two different companies out to take a look,” Thrasher said. “They think that a structural support that holds the wall could have corroded. There’s no definite answer.”
