FAIRMOUNT — The Fairmount Community Library celebrates National Library Week during the week of April 4-10, 2021. This week we encourage all community members to visit our website at fairmountlibrary.org, our Facebook page and Youtube channel to explore and access our many virtual programs and resources.
National Library Week is a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.
During these challenging times, the staff of the Fairmount Community Library has been working diligently to support our patrons through educational and innovative programming. We have partnered with the Everson Museum, Syracuse’s Symphoria, The Rosamond Gifford Zoo, Baltimore Woods Nature Center, and The MOST to offer special programs as we adapt to our changing world. We have virtual resources to help those who are in need of a job, would like a mentoring session on creating or updating a resume, and even free interview skill sessions. We have also added One-on-One Assistance appointments for those in need of help booking a Covid vaccine. Our library has adapted our programming as a way of supporting our patrons.
“We love celebrating National Library Week every year and appreciate hearing from our patrons,” said library Director, Brenda Shea. “They like to let us know what their favorite memory is of the library, their favorite program or librarian. If you love libraries, share that with your friends and neighbors. We appreciate all of the support we receive from our community.”
This National Library Week, the public can show their appreciation and support for libraries by participating in our programs, following us on social media and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek as a show of support.
The Fairmount Community Library’s mission is to connect our community through information sharing, fostering communication and enhancing lifelong learning. Visit our website at fairmountlibrary.org.
